Alternative Solutions for Eye Problems
The mainstream solutions for eye problems, such as nearsightedness and farsightedness, are eyeglasses, contact lenses and laser surgery. There are alternative solutions that you may find interesting and more appealing.
When did you first realize that your vision was failing? Most people notice in school, because most schools regularly give students a quick vision check. The most common condition that is found is nearsightedness.
Too much close work is a cause of nearsightedness, which actually means that you can see fine close up, but not far away. There are far more nearsighted people than there were at one time. A probable cause is increased computer usage. You don’t have to stop using your computer to prevent these kinds of eye problems, but you should practice looking away from the computer, every 10 minutes or so.
Like other parts of the body, the eyes need exercise. The way that they get that exercise is by focusing at different distances. That’s what they were designed to do. When you shift your focus from one point to another; from across the room to the computer screen, the muscles inside the eye change the shape of the crystalline lens. That’s what allows us to see at different distances.
If you’ve been staring at a computer screen or other close points for long periods of time, the muscles become stiff, just as your leg muscles and joints become stiff after sitting in one position for a long period of time. You feel like stretching.
You can also stretch the muscles within the eyes. You do that by looking at a point that is at least 10 feet away from you for 10 seconds. You might look at the clock on the wall or out the window. What you look at is unimportant. You simply need to look.
Farsightedness is something that often comes with age. Eye problems of this kind almost always require some corrective lenses. People typically refer to them as reading glasses. But, if you rely on these too heavily, you will continue to need stronger and stronger reading glasses as time goes by.
You should always take your reading glasses off when you are not doing close work. That might sound like common sense, but people often forget. What happens then is that the muscles within the eyes become weaker. Eventually, people find themselves wearing corrective lenses full time. The power that they used to need for reading, they have to wear to see road signs clearly.
All kinds of vision eye problems can be improved by using the muscles as they were meant to be used. Take a moment to look around.
